July 2025
We wrapped up our African adventure with a couple days in Victoria Falls. This definitely felt like the most touristy portion of our trip, but the falls are so powerful and impressive and totally worth the visit.
Accommodations:
- We stayed at the Victoria Falls Rainbow Hotel conveniently located just a few minutes from the falls. The hotel had nice amenities, and fortunately a generator for the nation-wide blackout that occurred while we were there (which we were oblivious to until the next day).
Tours and Activities:
- A Boma dinner and drum show at a nearby hotel allowed us to try a variety of local foods, including the traditional Mopane worm, kudu, and impala.
- We had a guided walking tour of Victoria Falls which provided stunning (although very wet) views of the falls. The shin-length rain coats we rented from a vendor outside the park were absolutely necessary.
- We also got to view the falls from above with a helicopter flight. It was truly stunning to see the mist from above and the gorges formed by the Zambezi River.
- We ended our trip with a relaxing sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, complete with drinks, tapas, and our final hippo sightings.
