We loved our honeymoon in England, Ireland, and Scotland so we decided to celebrate our 10th anniversary in Wales! Between the castles, quaint towns, scenic hikes, and stunning coastal views, it’s a destination that’s absolutely worth the trip. One tip: rent the smallest car you can find, the roads are incredibly narrow and often bordered by stone walls.
Accommodations:
- We stayed at the Coed-Y-Fron bed and breakfast in the charming town of Betws-Y-Coed. The rooms were comfortable and an easy walk to the town’s shops and restaurants. It was also the perfect home base for day trips through Snowdonia and the Isle of Anglesey.
Activities:
- On our way from England to Betws-Y-Coed, we stopped through Conwy to explore Conwy Castle and the town located within the still-standing castle walls.
- We took the historic steam train up Snowdon Mountain, the highest peak in Wales. We were lucky to have a clear day to be able to see pretty epic views of the Welch countryside.
- The loop trail around Llyn Idwal may be one of the most picturesque hikes we’ve done. It’s about a two-hour hike surrounded by mountains waterfalls and a great stop on our way to the Isle of Anglesey.
- On the Isle of Anglesey, we explored Beaumaris Castle, explored the property and played a round of disc golf at Plas Newydd House and Gardens, and hiked the Parys Mountain copper mine.
