South Africa

June 2025

Our African adventure started with a very short stay in Cape Town. It was pretty chilly and rained the entire time we were there, but that didn’t stop us from making the most of it. I would love to be able to go back and see the sights during the summertime!

Accommodations:

  • We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Cape Town, located in the Central Business District. The hotel had an excellent breakfast and the sauna and steam room were much appreciated after a 15 hour flight. The location was great for the short stay, being close to the hop-on hop-off bus headquarters, and many restaurants and shops.

Tours and Activities:

  • We purchased tickets for the hop-on hop-off bus and enjoyed stops at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, and escaping the rain for a wine tasting at Beau Constantia.
  • Bouchon Bistro was an excellent dinner choice, with reasonable prices and allowed us to try some local dishes like kingklip and ostrich.
  • Andrew convinced us to swing through a jazz club after dinner, which was a nice way to end our stay in Cape Town before an early flight to Botswana the next morning.
