December 2014 & July 2023

In 2014, we paired a quick weekend in Niagara Falls with one of our trips to visit Pete and Calee in New York. Visiting in winter was a really cool experience, as long as you’re okay missing out on the Maid of the Mist boat tour and other activities that are closed down for the winter.

In 2023, we returned to Canada for a friends trip to the Banff/Jasper area. The scenery is absolutely stunning and we had a great time traveling with everyone!

Accommodations: In 2014, we had a falls view room at the Sheraton Niagara Falls.

For our 2023 trip, we reserved two two-bedroom condos at Tamarack Lodge by Spring Creek Vacations. The condos were so spacious and in a great location walkable to everything in downtown Canmore.

Tours and Activities: In 2014, we flew into Buffalo and took the bus that drops you off right at the bridge crossing into Canada. It was a cool experience walking across the bridge and seeing the falls and in the background. Over the weekend, we did the behind the falls tour, visited the Butterfly Conservatory, dabbled in the casinos, and a DIY Canadian beer tasting while watching the snow fall on the falls from our hotel room.

For our 2023 trip, we disc golfed (or walked) the Canmore Nordic Centre course, saw incredible scenery (Bow Lake was one of my favorite spots) on our way to walk on the Athabasca Glacier in the Columbia Icefields, hiked in Johnston Canyon, and explored downtown Banff.
