November 2021
Kauai was just what we needed after a year and half of not traveling due to the COVID-19 pandemic! This trip could not have been more perfect. Kauai is stunning and made even better exploring it with Scottie and Ali. We can’t wait to go back to Kauai but also want to explore the Big Island on our next trip.
Accommodations: For the first half of our trip, we stayed on the north shore at Hanalei Colony Resort. It was a little removed from the restaurants and beaches at Hanalei Bay, but a very nice and relaxing place to spend a few days. We moved to the south shore for the second half of the trip and stayed at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. This resort felt straight out of White Lotus. Tons of restaurants, a spa, multiple pools, onsite luau, you name it. We were pretty busy the days we stayed here and wished we’d had a little more time to just enjoy all the resort had to offer.
Tours and Activities: We got to experience so many things while in Kauai! On the north shore, we took surf lessons in Hanalei Bay (and actually got up a few times), went to Haena State Park (but unfortunately the trails to hike the Na Pali coast were closed due to flooding), took in the views coming from Princeville into Hanalei, and off course had our fair share of Mai Tai’s.
Some of our favorites from the south/east coast included snorkeling at Lawa’i beach, kayaking and hiking to the Secret Falls, nine holes of oceanside golf, and probably the highlight of the trip: a doors off helicopter tour of the island!
