Illinois

August 2021

As a belated birthday trip, we spent a few days exploring Chicago and it quickly became my favorite big city. There’s so much to do, and the riverfront and Lake Michigan make it feel much less claustrophobic than other cities we’ve visited. Going in the summer, the weather was perfect. Just make sure you have the right shoes for all the walking!

Accommodations: We stayed at theWit hotel, which was super close to the riverwalk. We really enjoyed our stay, particularly for the location, spa, and rooftop restaurant.

Tours and Activities: An absolute must-do in Chicago is the architectural boat tour. It’s a great way to see the city and learn about the history and development. We also enjoyed the Field Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, and doing the 360 Chicago experience at the Hancock building. We ate really great food, with our favorites being Ema and Lou Malnatis.
